We are beyond grateful for the wonderful support of the community, outstanding musicians that performed, the generosity of those whose donated cash and raffle items and to all of the terrific people that joined us yesterday. Mother Nature was kind enough to give us an absolutely gorgeous day for families to enjoy a day of great music, food and create memories well into the night with the warmth and glow of the annual Tiki torch.
A very special loving and giving couple has made this all possible by opening their beautiful homestead in the Northwoods, thank you so much Lee and Brenda Jones and the committee members who worked so hard to make it all come together.
Please checkout our Facebook page for lots more photos and videos. See you all next year!
Recent donations made by The Jonesfest Committee...so blessed and grateful for your support so that we may continue to do this!
Jonesfest Committee Makes 2018 Donations
As has been customary in the past several years, the Jonesfest Committee has recently made donations to area groups. Included are Kennan-Georgetown Fire Department, Catawba-Harmony Fire Department, Jump River Historical Society, Elk Lake Splash Pad, Phillips Youth Baseball & Softball Program, & Price County Fair Marketing Board; Prentice Ambulance Service; Kennan & Catawba Village Parks; Logger Athletics. Additionally, in May 2018, scholarships totaling $3,000 will be awarded to three Phillips High School graduating seniors who have been involved in music during their high school years.
Jonesfest is an annual outdoor music festival hosted by Lee & Brenda Jones, organized by a committee of individuals. Many local musicians share their talents at this event held on Saturday of Labor Day Weekend each year. Starting small, the goal at the first annual Jonesfest in 2012 was to raise funds for a Reunited music scholarship. That first scholarship of $500 was awarded in 2013. To date the Jonesfest Committee has made over $20,000 in donations for band uniforms, choir robes, middle school scoreboard, electronic sign at the high school, scholarships, school athletic teams, & community groups. These donations are made possible due to the generosity of individuals & businesses supporting the Jonesfest event.
We are so excited to share this news with you:
Jonesfest founders honored as Phillips Friends of Education
Jonesfest music festival founders Lee Jones and Bob Hladish were the recipients of this year's Friend of Education award, given out annually by the school to local individuals who support education. Jones and Hladish created Jonesfest in 2012, and every year the funds raised from the outdoor concert are given as scholarships to Phillips High School students who are involved in music. The group has also made donations toward the high school choir, various athletic groups and gave a gift toward the new high school marquee.
Jones thanked the board for the recognition, saying: “We wanted to give back to the community and it's something we're passionate about. We hope to continue through the years and be able to bring a lot more scholarships, more money for worthy causes. I want to thank everybody that takes the time and effort to be on the school board. I know it's kind of a thankless job, but I appreciate you still take effort to preserve quality education in the county.
“We are very fortunate to have a community that is willing to give,” added Hladish. “They have given in monetary ways, they have come forward to do the music ... we started out with all volunteers and if it weren't for the people giving back, we wouldn't be successful.”
PHS New Choir Robes
Merry Christmas from the Phillips High School Choir! We are loving our new robes and can't wait to premier them on Monday!
We just received this wonderful picture and note from the Phillips High School Choir. The Jonesfest committee donated funding to acquire the new robes.
So happy we could help....
Some exciting news shared with us by Peggy Holan:
Lyndsey was a 2015 scholarship recipient. She couldn't join you at the fest this year, but she carries on with her love of music with your support. She will play with the Milwaukee community Knightwind Ensemble this month. Thank you all again!
Congratulations Lyndsey from the Jonesfest Committee!!!
